How To Stop Forgetting Important Items And Tasks
Introduction
You've made a mental note over and over in your head to remember to bring that important item with you when you leave the house, you've been thinking about it all day.
You're rushing to make sure you're ready to leave the house on time and do a great job making it to your destination on time, only to realise that in the rush to leave on time, you've arrived at your destination without that all important item that you have accidentally left at home. Sound familiar? It sure does to us!
Over the years situations such as this were all too common, and not only applied to both forgetting important items, but also important tasks (oh how many times I have forgotten to take my daily vitamin pills..).
On our quest to live an organised life, we have devised 5 useful life hacks to stop forgetting important daily items and tasks:
1. Leave Important Items By The Exit
This method may seem a bit silly, however it has saved me personally on numerous occasions. For example, if I am on my way to a birthday party and want to make sure that I don't forget the birthday present, I simply leave the package by the front door. This way, it is virtually impossible for me to forget to bring the present as it will get in the way of me opening the door to leave the house!
2. Use An Organiser Tool
As mentioned earlier in this post, I am a serial "pill forgetter". Daily medications or vitamins are my worst enemy as I never remember to take them. The use of an organisational tool such as the GRIDDY Lifestyle Storage Case has been invaluable. I carry the pill case with me in my daily carry everyday and have found that I have not missed a pill at all in the recent months due to this habit.
3. Counting The Number Of Items
There are times where there are a number of items that I need to bring with me (packing for travel, anyone?), and I often find that I may forget one or two of these items once I reach my destination. A small life hack that I use is to quickly count the total number of items that I need to bring with me.
As an example, if I note down that there are a total of 5 items that I need to bring with me for my upcoming trip; I simply need to count the total number of items that I have with me right before I am going to leave the house rather than remember the exact details of the items to be taken. Simple right?
4. Placing Essential Items On Top
For many of us these days, our phones are right at the top of our essential life accessories. You're less likely to leave the house without your phone as opposed to your keys right? With this logic in mind, a useful life hack is to simply place your phone on top of any item you don't want to forget with you when you leave the house.
Don't want to forget to bring your wallet with you? Simply place your phone on top of your wallet. As you're most likely to remember to bring your phone with you when you leave the house, you'll naturally see it lying on top of your wallet as you're about to head out. Genius!
5. Taking A Photo
Following on from the logic of the mobile phone being the item that is most likely always with you, why not simply take a photo of an important item with your phone before stowing it away? Not sure where you put the camera? No problem, check the photo you took on your phone.
Conclusion
And there you go! We hope our top tips on how to become slightly less forgetful has been useful for you. The combination of building organisation habits as well as use of organisational tools are what we think are key to building an organised and stress free life.
